What it is
Musklink maps Elon Musk's head using his own words. On the Brain page, every dot is something he said. Bigger hubs mean he talks about that topic more, and the lines between hubs show which topics he mixes together.
The Archive shows the same quotes on a calendar, day by day.
Where the quotes come from
Quotes are collected automatically from news articles every day. The only words kept are ones the article puts in quotation marks and attributes to Musk, plus posts of his that the article embeds. Nothing is paraphrased or summarised.
Every quote links to its source, so you can read it in context.
Dates and times
All dates and times are in US Central Time, where Musk is mostly based. Every visitor sees the same date for each quote, no matter where they are.
- Said: the date of his own post.
- Reported: the date the article was published. He may have said it a day or more earlier.
Topics
Quotes are sorted into 12 topics. A quote can belong to up to two, so the same quote may show up under both. For example, a quote can appear under Space and under Business. That's why the topic counts add up to more than the total.
Evidence
A copy of every source page is saved when it's collected, with a digital fingerprint (SHA-256). That way, if an article is later changed or removed, there's a record of what it said.
- Archived ✓ links to a public copy of the source page on the Wayback Machine.
- Evidence saved ✓ means a private copy is kept but there's no public copy yet.
Hover over either one to see when the page was saved and the start of its fingerprint.
Mistakes
Collection is automatic, so a quote can occasionally be picked up wrongly. Quotes are reviewed regularly, and any found to be wrong are removed from the site.
